For the social sciences, the top 3 research areas when measured in the number of documents published by Malaysian authors in 2014 are Economics, Public Environmental Occupational Health and Healthcare Sciences Services.
Top 5 universities (Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia) accounted for 68% (12,085) of all documents published in 2014.
